GSA

On behalf of Global Sports Alliance, I would like to offer our condolences and express our deepest sympathies to those affected by the recent earthquake in the Tohoku region.

More than half a million people are currently living in shelters as a result of this earthquake, and many of their basic utilities still have not recovered.
As the extent of the damage and destruction caused by the earthquake and tsunami become clear, we have received many inquiries as to how members and friends could provide support through GSA.

After considering how best to aid the victims of this disaster, we have created a new program called "Sports Recovery Program (SRP)," aiming to alleviate pain and provide emotional support through sports.

As a more direct method of aid, we are currently in discussion with GSA Musashino and GSA Myoko about sending water and rice. However, delivery of supplies must comply with strict government guidelines and we are still deciding the best way to send these supplies without disrupting the relief effort by the government.

As part of SRP, we are considering providing children in shelters with new sneakers, as well as sporting equipment such as balls and other sporting goods. We hope that through sports, the children of afflicted areas will be able to put their pain aside, if only for a short while.

There is still much confusion in the devastated area and we are aware that it may be a while before we will be able to transport the items we collect, but we want to be ready to act when the time is right. We will utilize this planning period to decide specifically which equipment to send. In the meantime, we would like to ask for contributions to the relief fund for the purchase and shipping of equipment.

As this is a new program, there is still much work to do. Please give us your warm support, and bear with us as we work out each detail.

Thank you.
